Rum is a spirit obtained from sugar cane, by fermentation and distillation of cane juice. Originally it was produced only in the Caribbean area, but today the production has extended to many sugar cane growing countries. As soon as it is prepared, the rum is almost colorless, then acquires a yellow-brown color and typical aroma over time.
Besides being one of the most popular spirits, rum is one of the most used components for cocktails and long drinks; in confectionery it is used as a flavoring for desserts, flame preparations and filled desserts.
