Ovolo

Ovolo is the common name of a highly prized mushroom (Amanita Cesarea). Initially it looks like a white egg (hence the name); when this breaks, the hat opens, thus revealing a beautiful orange color. The stem can reach 15 cm in height. It is found in chestnut and oak woods, more rarely in pine forests.

This mushroom is very popoular in cooking and can also be eaten raw in salads, as long as it is closed; when the hat is completely open, however, it can be cooked in different ways.
