The guitar is an indispensable tool for the preparation of « maccheroni alla chitarra », a typical pasta dish of Abruzzo cuisine.
It is a wooden frame, in which thin metal wires are stretched (just like the strings of the guitar), spaced no more than 3-4 mm. The sheet of pasta is placed on top of these threads and pressed with a rolling pin: square spaghetti are thus formed, then seasoned with a meat sauce, in particular mutton and pecorino.
