It has also many tubercles and spines on the dorsal and lateral parts, while its first pair of limbs is equipped with two claws. The spider crab can reach a maximum length of 22 cm and is widespread in the Venetian lagoon as well as in the Mediterranean and eastern Atlantic. The best season to enjoy this type of crab is during the winter season, specifically from November to February; it has quite fine and delicate meats.
