Ginger

Ginger is a herbaceous plant native to Asia whose underground stems, called rhizomes, are used; elongated and full of irregular protrusions. The ginger peel is whitish in color with gray nodules, while the inner pulp is white and firm. The rhizomes are generally candied or reduced to a powder with an intense aroma and a strong taste, which is used to flavor meat dishes and sauces. It is also one of the components of curry.
